The plastic pollution of oceans is one the most imminent threats of our times and the microplastic that has already been found in human organisms should be a wake-up call.

In close partnership with UNWTO, the OACM will work to develop and create more revolutionary solutions for protecting and preserving oceans, lakes and rivers around the world by setting new global tourism industry standards which will directly result in minimizing the amounts of microplastic in the world’s waters and increasing the number of marine areas free from non-degradable waste and toxins. By setting these standards and expanding the areas populated by humans – beaches, marinas, national parks, and others – we will help the general public become more educated about and aware of this ecological threat.
