Member Requirements

There are very strict rules and policy in place for becoming an OACM member. This policy is based on proving the act of intervention in nature (oceans, lakes, and rivers). To become a member, a country has to submit its existing certified clean marine areas and SAFE Whiteflag beaches that are available for public use. OACM recommends the minimum size of these areas divided into different categories: SAFE Whiteflag beach group, marine areas, port and harbor areas, certified wild marine areas that include national parks, water reservoirs etc.
Each country needs to expand these certified marine areas and abide by the newly created standard and policy of the OACM research department.
