Nautical & Marine Yacht Program

Nautical tourism has grown in the last decade but it is still in the development phase. This segment of the tourism industry has increased the global fleet (motor yachts, sailboats, and other recreational vessels) so the need for the accommodation of those vessels has increased too. This includes the building of new yacht marinas, anchoring places and gas stations. The growth of the nautical tourism industry has happened too fast and the new generation of nautical customers poses a direct danger to the protection of oceans. Considering their lack of experience and easier and cheaper access to vessels, the danger of ocean pollution has increased too, especially as a consequence of anchoring in protected coral areas. Careless boat owners and inexperienced recreational sailors endanger these protected marine areas. In partnership with Whiteflag International, OACM is developing a specially designed program for this segment of tourism, which includes marine areas clean from non-degradable waste, as well as an educational program for recreational sailors with a specially designed communication system.
